Objectives and Values

Objectives
Arthik Anusandhan Kendra works with the community to enable them to exercise their rights on issues such as health and education, have access and control over natural resources, land rights and livelihoods. AAK especially focuses on facilitating the provision of welfare and development schemes by the government. AAK believes that focused attention on children, especially the girl child is essential to transform society.
While focusing on working with the community at the grassroots level, in both rural and urban areas, AAK also looks at linkages between the local, meso and macro level processes that affect hunger, poverty and the rights of people.
Values
Ensuring Participation
Participation is one of the basic values and prerequisites of our working methodology. AAK’s activities are planned, implemented and monitored by the active participation of the community. Assessment of AAK’s performance and activities are all done by the community.
Seeking Transparency
All decisions are made in a decentralised and open manner. Social audits are organised where expenditure made by AAK in a given area is made public and open to scrutiny. AAK also seeks to create a similar pressure on the panchayats and government projects.
Promoting Equity and Equality
AAK adheres to the principle of equity and equality in all its programmatic processes. AAK believes in a justifiable sharing of natural resources and programme benefits among deprived and marginalized communities, especially women among them.
