Local Governance
The vision of inclusive, gender-just, and equitable development can only be achieved through a robust local governance system.

The roles of panchayats and local bodies are vital for the development of various service delivery institutions established by the government. AAK works closely with local authorities in both rural and urban areas to establish strong service delivery institutions at panchayat and urban areas, including schools, anganwadi, health centers, libraries, and so on. With strong service delivery institutions and active engagement from local authorities, the quality of service delivery becomes stronger. This, in turn, enhances community trust and participation, leading to more effective governance and improved outcomes for residents. By fostering collaboration between local bodies and citizens, AAK aims to create sustainable systems that empower communities and meet their diverse needs.
We work with panchayats to strengthen local governance in an inclusive manner where people from marginalized sections, especially women and children, are included in the planning. Women and informed community members actively participate in monitoring the functioning of panchayats and the delivery of services through local institutions such as Anganwadi centers, schools, and health facilities. Still, a large number of marginalized and needy citizens are not able to access government services and schemes, important for their social upliftment. We work to raise awareness within the community about the government services and schemes that are available.
Additionally, we facilitate community-based monitoring of these services, empowering residents to engage actively in the process. This empowers citizens to hold local authorities accountable and ensures that their voices are heard in the decision-making process. By fostering collaboration between community members and panchayat officials, we aim to create a more inclusive environment where everyone’s needs are addressed effectively. We focus on many government schemes, but access to jobs (MNREGS and SRLM), rations (PDS), nutrition (Anganwadi), reproductive and child healthcare services, pension schemes (old age, widow, and disability), PM Kishan Samman Nidhi, Kishan Credit Card, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, scholarships, and Janani Suraksha Yojana are widely focused on under our program.
