Livelihood

AAK has been actively engaged in promoting sustainable livelihoods and empowering women, particularly from marginalized and rural communities.

AAK’s approach integrates skill development, financial inclusion, and capacity building to create long-term, community-driven economic resilience. The organization has implemented various livelihood programs aimed at enhancing income-generating opportunities. These include vocational training in trades such as tailoring, handicrafts, organic farming, poultry, goat rearing, and small-scale entrepreneurship. Beneficiaries are also supported through access to tools, inputs, and market linkages to ensure sustainability. Special focus is given to women, youth, landless and marginalized households to improve employability and diversify income sources.

Women are at the center of our development efforts. Through the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), women are encouraged to save, access credit, and manage group enterprises. Capacity-building sessions on leadership, financial literacy, and rights awareness have enabled women to take active roles in household and community decision-making. We also facilitate exposure visits, digital literacy training, and linkages with government welfare schemes to broaden women’s opportunities and social participation.

As a result of these efforts, marginalized women have not only gained financial independence but have also become agents of change within their communities, leading to improved social status, enhanced confidence, and greater voice in local governance processes.

Our livelihood interventions include land bunding and leveling, construction of water reservoirs (talabs), check dams, and the promotion of income-generating activities through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Additional efforts focus on kitchen gardening, climate-resilient agricultural practices, fruit and vegetable farming, and establishing market linkages. Non-farm-based livelihood interventions involve skill development for rural youth and women, promotion of micro-entrepreneurship, and related support services.
