Brijwasi is a 34-year-old woman with complete blindness, who personifies willpower can surpass every hurdle. Belonging to a Cole community, she could not marry due to her disability. Along with her, there are 8 other members in the family. With very unstable employment and a small piece of land, eking out a living was a hard struggle for the family. Brijwasi was the president of the self-help group in her village. Arthik Anusandhan Kendra started supporting the SHG, and the SHG proposed Brijwasi’s name for individual help. AAK supported Brijwasi with INR 31000/- to buy a buffalo. Brijwasi borrowed some money from the SHG also and bought a buffalo. The buffalo used to give 6 ltr milk every day and Brijwasi’s family was earning a steady amount selling the milk. Now the buffalo is pregnant and would bear a calf. With this one buffalo the family earned INR 3825 in one year and the buffalo’s market price is now INR 80000/- This has not only given much needed financial resources to the family but also a dignified life. Subsequently, Brijwasi was linked to the disability pension and is now receiving INR 1000/- per month. The story reaffirms that a small help at the right time can create wonders.
