Arjun Defies Disability and Earns a Livelihood

Arjun Singh, a 32-year-old from the Other Backward Class, faced life-altering circumstances that tested his strength and perseverance. With a family of seven, including his elderly parents, he sought stable employment in Mumbai to support them. However, fate took a tragic turn when a JCB vehicle accident left him disabled from the waist down.
The aftermath of the accident drained his family’s financial resources as they struggled to afford his long and challenging medical treatment. Though he regained limited mobility, relying on crutches for movement, his ability to lead an independent life remained uncertain.
That’s when Arthik Anusandhan Kendra stepped in to help.
Understanding Arjun’s dire need for support, AAK provided essential assistance to improve his quality of life. A dedicated toilet was built for him, ensuring ease in fulfilling his daily routine with dignity. Furthermore, to help him regain financial independence, AAK supported him with a small shop stocked with ₹10,000 worth of materials, allowing him to earn a livelihood. He was also linked to the disability pension scheme, providing him with financial security.
With this support, Arjun’s reliance on his family has significantly reduced. He now actively contributes to farming work and fulfills his essential needs on his own, demonstrating remarkable resilience. While the accident brought unimaginable hardship, his unyielding spirit, combined with AAK’s intervention, has enabled him to rebuild his life. Through sheer determination, he continues to forge ahead, proving that even in the face of adversity, hope and perseverance can lead to new beginnings.
